Wellbeing
Bishops Lydeard Church School prioritises well-being for children, staff, and the wider community through a comprehensive and compassionate approach. Trauma-informed practises are embedded within the school’s regulation policy and supported by dedicated regulation areas that provide safe spaces for emotional self-regulation.
Emotionally available staff members, including trained ELSA practitioners and PFSA support, offer personalised care and guidance. Pupils have weekly opportunities to express their feelings through structured pupil voice sessions, ensuring their emotional needs are heard and addressed.
Well-being is further nurtured through PSHCE lessons and rich SMSC opportunities that promote personal growth and resilience.
Staff well-being is equally valued, with access to regular well-being events, targeted training, and support packages designed to sustain their mental health and professional effectiveness. This holistic approach fosters a nurturing environment where everyone in the school community can thrive.
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC)
At Bishops Lydeard Church School, Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural (SMSC) development is a fundamental part of our curriculum and school life. We provide pupils with rich opportunities to explore their spirituality and moral understanding, encouraging them to develop a strong sense of right and wrong.
Social skills are fostered through collaborative learning, community involvement, and respectful relationships, while cultural awareness is enhanced by celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion.
Through carefully planned activities, assemblies, and curriculum links, SMSC supports pupils to become well-rounded individuals who appreciate their own identity and respect the beliefs and values of others.
