Mathematics Curriculum Progression

Our Mathematics curriculum progression is organised into blocks across a year and is supported by the DfE / NCETM document ‘Ready to Progress Criteria’ and the White Rose Maths overview. Within our curriculum we build in opportunities to revisit previous learning and to make links and connections within different areas of Mathematics.

Maths Blast

In addition to Natty numbers we also use Maths Blast.
Maths Blast is taught 3 x weekly in addition to a maths lesson. We recap prior learning, to consolidate key skills such as calculation and to allow additional time to work on areas which need improvement.
Process:
The learning is organised using headings such as: last lesson, last week, last month, last term, we need to improve.
These questions can be written on a whiteboard or on sheets and pupils can answer the questions on whiteboards, on a sheet or in the back of maths books as appropriate. Pupils in Year 6 may also have questions from across the KS2 curriculum and so may not solely use the headings of: last week, last month, last term, we need to improve.
