A Typical Day in the Nursery

Please note, this is just an example of our daily routine. Whilst nursery openings, lunch time and home times stay the same, we like to be flexible with other timings to suit the children’s needs or special events/activities that we have planned.

AM:

9:00 –Doors open and families welcomed into the setting

9:20 – Large group time/phonics and ‘Hello Song’

9:25 – Small group time activities

9:40 – Free flow play – doors remain open and children can move freely between inside and outside.

10:00 – 11:00 – Café time – Children are given their name card and can choose whether they would like to come for a snack. When they have finished, they choose one of their friends. Café time runs alongside free flow play.

11:40 – Tidy up time

11:50 – Story/singing time

12:00 – Home time or lunch time for children staying all day

PM:

12:00-12:45 – Lunch time

1:00 – Large group time/phonics and ‘Hello Song’

1:05 – Small group time activities

1:20 – Free flow play – doors remain open and children can move freely between inside and outside.

1:40 – 2:20 – Café time – Children are given their name card and can choose whether they would like to come for a snack. When they have finished, they choose one of their friends. Café time runs alongside free flow play.

2:40 – Tidy up time

2:50 – Story/singing time

3:00 – Home time

We plan and teach phonics on a daily basis. The map of coverage will vary each term as it is adapted to the days in which the children are attending for that term.
