The children loved measuring capacity of containers with water!! There was some spillage!

The children enjoyed finding the capacity of containers and objects using cubes and stickle bricks.

On Wednesday afternoon, we enjoyed a trip to the church, where we had the chance to meet Reverend Mark, sing our school song ‘Lighthouse’ (outside) and look inside the church.

We have been reading a story called ‘The Tunnel’ by Anthony Browne and will be using this as a basis for writing our own stories in English. However, before we read the story, we created and explored our own tunnel in the hall. We wore boggles to black out the light in order to give us a sense of what it was like for the character in the story.

We have already started the ‘Golden Mile’ and as a class in the last week we have run 26.2 miles!

In Jigsaw lessons, we have been learning about keeping healthy by being active. These are some of he routines the children created to get our heart rates up.

Hunt for ‘Storm Unicorn Eggs’!

World Book Day 2021

Mrs Culverhouse read ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ by Julia Donaldson via video link.

We really enjoyed hearing the story ‘The Colour Monster’ by Anna Llenas and then coloured in our own colour monsters.

We tried fig rolls because we are learning a story called ‘Amisi and the Fig’ in English. The chocolate biscuit was used to take the taste of the fig roll away for those who didn’t enjoy it.

We created paintings of what we think a setting showing Christmas Eve could look like. This is because we are learning a poem called ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ in English.

We had fun making ‘dragon food’ because we have been learning a set of instructions about how to feed a pet dragon.

We were enjoying exploring shade and tint colours with Mrs Parks.

We worked in our Year 3/4 bubble for a Science / DT afternoon to design and create a Toilet Roll Torch. We worked in pairs to list ideas, resources, draw diagrams before creating them using our knowledge of circuits.

In Computing, we’ve been working on writing and running programs on the ALEX app. They children came up with very tricky levels!

On Remembrance Day, we created a Class Poppy Wreath and laid it on the War Memorial. We also listened to The Last Post and paid our respects with a two minute silence.

We were seeing if we could feel the sound vibrations as we spoke as part of our science lesson.

The children very enthusiastically read a poem called ‘The Sound Collector’ by Roger McGough.

A fun PE lesson today!

Hi everyone!

I hope you’re all well!

We have already had two busy weeks back at school and the children have been amazing! They’ve settled in really well and have worked extremely hard. Due to the fact that we have PE in the morning on Mondays and Fridays, the children have been doing a Maths lesson in the afternoon and I have been so impressed with their attitudes!

We have created our own ‘anxiety gremlins’, talked about what might be worrying us and how it is good to talk about our worries with an adult we trust.

We have had a go at recreating Van Gogh’s ‘Autumn Landscape with Four Trees’.
