Safeguarding
Bishops Lydeard Church School and The Bath & Wells MAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All members of staff are vetted against national safeguarding procedures before being allowed to work in school. At least one member of every interview panel has undertaken safer recruitment training to ensure that best practices and all necessary checks are carried out.
This means that we continue to ensure that everyone working in the school has successfully completed the necessary clearances to enable them to work with our children. All our staff have completed the appropriate safeguarding training. It also means that we have staff members who are specifically trained and nominated as the Designated Child Protection Persons within school. These people are:
Mr James Dakin
Mrs Suzanne Crane
Miss Megan Collins
Our safeguarding governor is Adam Knee.
Where appropriate, we would always hope to share any concerns we may have about a child with their parents, as we hope parents do with us about their or any other child. Part of our legal duty to safeguard children, may also include us needing to consult with and take advice from other agencies such as the Police, or Children’s Social Care, should the need arise.
We fully recognise how important it is to capture events and special moments during your child’s time at Bishops Lydeard Church School and the value of you having those memories.
However we have to ensure we protect and safeguard all children and be aware that for many reasons some children are not permitted to have photographs or videos taken. In some circumstances it poses a risk for children to have their images shared.
With this in mind we must be clear that you are not permitted to take photographs or to make a recording for anything other than your own personal use.
Any images that contain children other than your own must not be shared online in any capacity.
Once posted and shared online any image or video can be copied and will stay online forever.
The school is a secure site and all visitors are asked to report to reception. Please be mindful that for everybody’s safety, identification procedures will be carried out; a copy of which are displayed by the office for your information.
