Mrs Culverhouse, Mrs Constance and 23 extremely hard working children! 🙂
Our Victorian Childhood day was fantastic! The children enjoyed being in Victorian costume and using the slates.
Our performance of Oliver! is not far away and rehearsals are going well. We are looking forward to performing for everyone.
We have also been to Norton Manor this week with other schools and while we were there we took part in a biathlon, games of capture the flag and rollerball. We had to work as a team in many of the games and the SASP organisers were impressed with our team building skills.
It is hard to believe that we have already been back two weeks and we are now in the last half term.
The children are looking forward to getting started on our UKS2 performance of Oliver Twist and have been writing their own stories in class based on the structure of the famous novel.
The class have also taken part in their sponsored half a mile run- they had a photo with Mrs Culverhouse’s London Marathon medal afterwards.
The summer term has been speeding by and we have enjoyed every minute of it!
Kilve was a highlight for all of us in year 5.
We have also been writing persuasive letters and we shared our letters with Mrs Harvey. We wrote to her to persuade her to keep the heating on when it was really cold at the start of the term!
Be proud your ‘selfie. The children tool selfies of them with the piece of work that they felt most proud of.
We have been looking at The Lion the Witch the Wardrobe this term to help us develop our own portal stories. Extracts of these will be published in the Fiveways magazine.
We have also been learning about fractions- everything about fractions!
Here we are finding our letter from Narnia!
Badger class have been busy in the first few weeks back! We found a letter from a cyberman (we used this to inspire our drama) in our classroom, have created chalk planet pictures and have been looking at Kandinsky artwork.
In Badger class we have been creating our diary entries, which we then tea stained. We have also been embracing the ‘Picture of the moment’ by turning our classroom and ourselves into ‘spotty art’.
During Jigsaw sessions we have been looking at bullying and cyber-bullying. We have also looked at the differences between direct and indirect bullying.
We are looking forward to Christmas and all the fun activities that will bring!
What an amazing first week back! Art, drumming, carnival, WW2 evacuation day, a church visit and more!
The children dressed up as WW2 evacuees for the day and learnt about the life of an evacuee and much more! We will be writing diaries as evacuees in the coming weeks.
We also paid our respects during our 2 minute silence at church.
We have been looking at cyber-bullying in class and we all wore odd socks for anti-bullying week.
Badger class have been busing teaching each other, getting creative on wallpaper and searching for the Gurt Wurm!
Autumn Term 1
Welcome back to a new year! We have had a busy start to Badger Class!
The children started their topic off with a WOW day that involved whortleberries and purple tongues- from this we created whortleberry poetry and monochrome art.
We have also started learning our T4W story of ‘The Gurt Wurm’ and will be innovating this to write our own stories.
In maths we have been exploring place value and have been using lost of place value equipment to support us.
All of the children have made a good start to year 5- well done Badger Class 🙂
