Autumn Term 1
This half term we have been learning so much. In English we learnt the story of The Elves and the Shoemaker, we made an Elf trap and we then learnt all about writing instructions to trap an Elf. We have also been learning all about rhyming poetry and writing our own poems.
In maths we have been learning all about shape and measure with Mrs Jenkins. We can recognise and name common 2-D shapes, including: (for example, rectangles (including squares), circles and triangles)
Recognise and name common 3-D shapes, including: (for example, cuboids (including cubes), pyramids and spheres.)
We have also been learning about place value with Mrs Cable. We can count to ten, forwards and backwards, beginning with 0 or 1, or from any given number. Count, read and write numbers to 10 in numerals and words.
Given a number, identify one more or one less. Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least.
In topic we have been learning all about shoes. We had a visit to the shoe museum and learnt lots about the materials they use to make shoes. We learnt about shoes from the past and present. We enjoyed making our own shoes and we had to look for signs of Elves. We continued to learn about materials in our weekly science lessons talking about properties of materials.
In PE we have been working with Miss Plant our PE coach. We have enjoyed learning about the fundamental skills including ball control and movement. The children also have a PE lesson with Mrs Cable once a week, this term they have been learning about dance. Next term in PE the children will do some gymnastics.
